This weekend I went along to Hyde Parks 420 celebration event with some of London's most advocate cannabis smokers. 420 is a code word for the consumption of Cannabis which is extremely popular in the Cannabis subculture. This event is put together so people can come together for a peaceful protest to express the legalisation of this class B drug. The park was filled with the happy and the most high of folks from all different ages and backgrounds, all coming together for just one thing...Cannabis! Over the years the cannabis culture has become incredibly worldwide and it has become the norm for people to smoke cannabis in their everyday lives. The day was full of speeches, debates, smoking, music and freestyle MC's. Big Narstie himself even popped down for a visit. This event happened in other major city's across the UK and across the globe.
Some people smoke cannabis for the joy and fun and to be social with new and old friends. Others smoke Cannabis for medical reasons. Some countries today do in fact supply weed medically but unfortunately in the UK this is not the case. Cannabis has known to of helped many people and it's even being talked about in the sense of helping to cure cancer. Cannabis helps reduce nausea and vomiting. It can also help people with aids and helps pain in muscle. However safety concerns include memory loss and and cognition problems. But doesn't everything we take have side effects and cause problems? People argue that the consumption of alcohol is much worse then the consumption of Cannabis.
There was a number of arrests and searches at Hyde Park on the day of 420 as Cannabis is illegal. However, this did not stop the weed smokers all from lighting the biggest spliffs I had ever seen at the exact time of 4:20 in front of the police who just stood and watched. The atmosphere was great and there was no trouble. What stoner wants to start a fight anyway?
Well done to every who went along on the 19th and the 20th. Keep fighting the good cause and hopefully one day something will be done. If weed was legalised and regulated it could help many many sick people to finally get better.
PEACE
